 Isaiah 58: 9-14
Luke 5: 27-32

Mary Alice Hannan, OP

Isaiah challenges us to help create a world without oppression, false accusations and malicious speech. In such a world:
What would be on TV or in a movie?
What would we read in the newspaper or discuss in a political or religious conversation?

It seems our lives are filled with the very elements we are asked to remove, since only then will we know the real meaning of "Here I am."

Luke offers us a suggestion from Jesus' life:
Invite a tax collector (an outsider, someone who looks, acts, and thinks very differently from you) to become a real part of your community. In time, share a meal, socialize, and respect each other. What do you think would happen? Who or what are the things you consider tax collectors or sinners to be?

Recall Jesus' response to those who questioned his choices. Are you the righteous or the sinner?

Life often isn't as it seems!
