| Sister Celine Thiboutot, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was 91 years of age. The daughter of the late Josephat and Bernadette Chretien, she was born February 8, 1916 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Sister Celine entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River on August 3, 1932, made her First Profession July 2, 1934, and Final Profession July 2, 1937. Sister Celine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in American History from Boston College. Ministry history: Sister Celine Thiboutot taught elementary level students at Saint Anne School in Fall River, Massachusetts (1934-37, 1948-51, 1953-57, 1960-66), Saint Peter’s School in Plattsburgh, New York (1937-40, 1942-44, 1951-53, 1957-60), Saint Francis Xavier School in Acushnet, Massachusetts (1940-42, 1944-48). She taught high school French at Dominican Academy (1966-70) and was a teacher at Diamond Vocational School in Fall River (1970-72). From 1972 until the time of her retirement she was engaged in volunteer services to the Fall River convent and was a Eucharistic minister for the homebound and lector at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River. She moved to Catholic Memorial Home in 2002. |
