| Sister Juliana Naulty, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Newburgh, New York, died October 14, 2008 in Newburgh, New York. She was 85 years of age. Sister Juliana entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, New York, on September 7, 1941, made her First Profession June 17, 1943, and Final Profession August 25, 1949. Sister Juliana earned her BS in Elementary Education from Villanova University and her MA in History of Education at Catholic University in Washington DC. Sister Juliana was an elementary teacher at Holy Family School in New Rochelle, New York (1944-47), Casa San Jose in Newburgh (1947-50), Bishop Dunn Memorial School, also in Newburgh (1950-60), and Our Lady of Victory School in Mount Vernon (1960-63). From 1963 to 1966 she was history and religion teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. In 1966, she was appointed principal of St. Cecilia School in Iselin, New Jersey. In 1971 Sister Juliana moved to St Joseph Elementary School in Toms River where she was principal until 1994. In 1994 she remained at St. Joseph’s where she did development work for the elementary school until she retired to the Newburgh Center of Hope in 2007. |
