Sister Dolorata Cappiello, OP died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the infirmary of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Newburgh, New York. She was 100 years old.

Sister Dolorata’s early ministry was with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor. She did nursing and cooking in the Bronx NY from 1940-42; in Minneapolis MN from 1942-57; and in Denver CO from 1957-59. She did nursing with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in New York City from 1959-62 and in the Bronx from 1962-79. Sister did home visits and stamp collecting for the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor from 1979-95 in Ossining NY. She moved to the Center of Hope in Newburgh, New York in 2000.
